Stories of Thomas Bruton - Born 14 March 1824 - Eldest Son of Settler
Baptised on 19 July 1824 in Tarka.
In March 1853 took over the Commando Kraal Inn from C.Taylor.
In April 1853 was granted a liquor licence for Commando Kraal.
In
February 1863 advertised in the E.P.Herald:- "Bushman's River Hotel to let or
lease. Old line of road from P.E. to
Graham's Town. Well established, apply to Thos. Bruton (jnr), Riet Valey Hotel,
Riet valley."
According to St. Mary's Church records he describes himself as a farmer.
